Bugged Out! is 20 – We Salute You!

So, we’ve just about recovered from our seminal 7th birthday bash the other weekend (if you missed it, it was right good), but we felt it was only right to mark another landmark anniversary. Bugged Out! has just turned 20, and we love any excuse to celebrate anything.

Not only is it one of the longest running clubnights in the UK, Bugged Out! is amongst the most respected for consistently hitting the music of the moment right on the nose. Erol Alkan, Dan Avery, Andrew Weatherall and Soulwax are all advocates. Chemical Brothers played one of the first ones. It’s basically wicked.

Obviously two decades is something you have to have a dance about, so they stuck on a bit of a party/disco last week in an art deco theatre-come-village hall. I stuck my head through the door and I liked what I heard. A juicy line-up of (loads of) DJs (including our mate Justin Robertson) got to play five of their favourite tunes and not a beat more. There was lashings of disco, a bit of techno, and two Arctic Monkeys tracks (Skream is a big fan).

It got our heads going which lead to one of them ‘ideas’. As a tribute to two decades of Bugged Out – the BOR DJ team (and me) have picked our top five Bugged Out! anthems from the last 20 years. Get stuck in.

Soulwax – Krack

FC/Kahuna – Nothing is Wrong

Tronco Traxx – Walk For Me

Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To (Erol Alkan remix)

Chemical Brothers – Saturate
