Museum release ‘Contraptions Part 1’
Contraptions Part 1 is one of the EPs that really caught our attention this month. It’s hard to pin down why we keep coming back to it, but nestled in the seemingly straightforward production style, Jeroen Liebregts and Anton Pieete have really hit on something remarkable. Listen below.

Fresh from delivering a monstrous EP for MORD earlier this year, Jeroen has definitely brought his left of field mindset to opener ‘AAA’. As the track that initially piqued our interest, ‘AAA’ revolves around a juddering poly-rhythmic structure of jostling hi hats and side-chained white noise, barely held together by a nervous bass refrain and ample kick drum that succeeds in keeping you hooked throughout.
‘2dB’ goes on an atmospheric dub techno tip, bobbing along a tranquil but engrossing journey for its entirety closing off a formidable A side. On the flip ‘Rat’ lays out a rising, creepy tone that grabs you with its glorious emptiness and uneasy chords, whilst ‘BBB’, a darker, chunkier and more concise re-imagining of ‘AAA’ rounds off the carefully considered EP.
